In its heyday, the Ojai Valley Inn served Hollywood´s elite, but in later years had experienced a decline. Seeking to recapture the resort´s famed exclusivity, the owners commissioned a 30,000 sq. ft. luxury spa. The designer incorporated Spanish and Moroccan influences to reinforce the architecture which, in turn, recalls a remote Andalusian village. Traditional accents of dark wood, hand-carved furniture, and vivid tile patterns enrich the architecture´s pristine, plaster vernacular, and are so thorough as to provide a nearly hermetic atmosphere for the spa´s exotic treatments and restorative regimen. Credited for returning the resort to prominence, the finished spa has received frequent industry and media accolades. Its well-articulated vision prompted the renovation of 130 guest rooms and all resort restaurants in the style and quality of the spa. |
