The client´s design objective was to build a new hotel in the small luxury European Hotel model on Chicago´s ´Gold Coast´ that would surpass all the existing Chicago hotels in quality, design and service.

The design response was a concept for the hotel that ´talks´ to the Chicago neighborhood in which the new building is sited. It is a neighborhood that crosses between high rise commercial and residential structures, which are old, large scale luxury residences of the turn of the century. Ms. Martin-Vegue used the beautiful old stone buildings with their copper verdigris roofs and trims as inspiration for the color and materials palettes.
