To reflect the mission of the Irvine Foundation, which is to expand opportunity for the people of California to participate in a vibrant, successful and inclusive society, the designers created a ´heart,´ which is the Internally shared piazza, a warm open space that incorporates a library, informal break-out and conferencing space, a café and kitchen. The interior architecture and detailing is quietly refined, with a materials palette of traditional materials used simply.
